MOSCOW, July 14 (AVN) - A group of NATO experts invited by Georgia's government will arrive in Tbilisi in the near future, a well-informed source in the Russian General Staff told the Military News Agency.
The experts are to estimate the damage inflicted by the Russian forces. First the experts will check the 137th military base in Vaziany, Tbilisi's outskirts. The base is to be withdrawn from the territory of the republic strarting on August 1, this year in accordance with the Istanbul OSCE summit. NATO's specialists are going to check the 50th base in Gudauty, Abkhazia. But there they will work under the UN and OSCE cover, because Abkhazian leadership is not going to allow NATO representatives to its territory.
The experts are also planning to conduct the same ecology monitoring in Moldova in accordance with agreements with the local leaders. The biggest concern is about the locality of Kolbasnaya, the place of the former 14th army weapons storage sites.
