PERM PS-90A ENGINE MEETS INTERNATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

MOSCOW, July 14 (AVN) - Of the numerous plane engines produced in Russia only PS-90A meets all the international ecology standards, Vladimir Dmitryev, the aviation engines builders association deputy director general told the Military News Agency.

According to him, it became possible to get the low level of sound by means of using special sound dampers for the gas and air chamber. PS-90A has good emission characteristics owing to the combustor modification, electronic engine adjusting and other engineer decisions.

The engine is used in the IL-96-300 long range and TU-204 medium range airliners, TU-214 experimental plane and IL-76 Candid transport aircraft. IL-96-300PU plane, president's command post, is also equipped with this engine.

The Perm engine plant is getting its lines ready for the production of the PS-90A-76 model, which will be used for IL-76 planes. At present these transports are equipped with the D-30KP engines, which are outdated and what is more important - do not meet the international requirements - sound level, emissions, etc. The first IL-76 equipped with the new PS-90A-76 engine will rise in the air to pass certificate tests by the end of 2000.
