CHIEFS OF FAR EAST PENITENTIARY DEPTS MEETING IN MARITIME TERRITORY

VLADIVOSTOK, July 26 (AVN) - A regional meeting began here Wednesday devoted to the problems of the Russian Far East penitentiary department arisen while preparing the federal amnesty programme, a source in the region administration told the Military News Agency.

The meeting is attended by heads of the departments of the Maritime and Khabarovsk territories, Magadan, Kamchatka and Sahalin regions.

It will also be attended by Boris Golovkin, first deputy chief of the presidential department for penitentiary issues, members of the presidential penitentiary commission, and the general inspector of the French embassy to Russia. The meeting agenda envisages visiting Vladivostok 1st detention ward and a part of other penitentiary departments. The meeting will last until July 28.
