MOSCOW, July 27 (AVN) -The special operations against extremists have not been suspended even for a day in Chechnya, Colonel-General Valery Manilov, first deputy chief-of-staff, said on Thursday.
In the past week over 60 militants, about 30 camps, 25 funkholes and caches were eliminated in Chechnya, Manilov told a briefing in the Russian Information Centre. According to him, the purpose and successive elimination of the rebel material base is affecting the combat ability of the militants and their ability to stage terrorist acts.
Speaking about the 42nd motorised rifle division stationed in Chechnya on permanent basis, Manilov noted that all the regiments are already included into the system of combat activity of the unified federal group and participate in the hostilities in their responsibility zones.
Manilov also named the federal losses as of the past week. According to the data of the General Staff, over the past seven days 19 soldiers were killed and 94 wounded in Chechnya, including respectively five and 34 servicemen of the Defence Ministry.
