MOSCOW, August 9 (AVN) - A delegation of US ecologists arrives in Russia on Wednesday, a source in the Russian Armed Forces eco-security department told the Military News Agency.
The group will take part in the meeting of the AMEC programme secretariat, which is a programme for ecological co-operation between Russia, the USA, and Norway for the Arctic. The meeting at experts level will be held in here Wednesday to Friday.
The meeting will co-ordinate the issues and documents for summing up the results of the three countries' work in the sphere of Arctic ecological security in the first half of 2000. The summing up will take place in St. Petersburg on August 14-17 at the level of deputy defence ministers of the three countries. Russia will be presented by First Deputy Defence Minister Nikolai Mikhailov. Major-General Boris Alexeyev, head of the Armed Forces ecological security will hold a report on work done in the framework of the AMEC.
