KUBINKA, Moscow Region, August 9 (AVN) - The Russkie Vityazi (Russian Knights) SU-27 Flanker and the Strizhi MIG-29 Fulcrum stunt pilot groups will leave the Kubinka air base on Wednesday and fly to one of the airfields near St. Petersburg to take part in the aviation and sports show devoted to the Air Force day on August 12, guard Colonel Anatoly Omelchenko, chief of the Kozhedub aviation stout centre, told the Military News Agency.
According to him, the pilots trained single and group stunt flights in the centre on Tuesday. They flew after a long break caused by the vacations. At present the average time in the air of the centre's pilot is 17 hours, which is 12 percent of the regular flier's time. The Russian Knights fliers commanded by Colonel Alexander Lychkun continue to make group stunt flights only owing to their experience, skills and enthusiasm, Omelchenko said. As for the Strizhi pilots, they can produce only single stunt flights, he added.
