ST.PETERSBURG, August 15 (AVN) - The Admiralteiskiye Verfi state enterprise is to float off the Kaliningrad tanker, another arctic class tanker built for the LUKoil-Arktic-Tanker JS, on Tuesday, Ivan Shevelyuk, chief master-builder of the order, told the Military News Agency.
This is the third ship built for the LUKoil-Arktic-Tanker by the Admiralteiskiye Verfi, he said. The Astrakhan and the Magas tankers were received by the company accordingly in March and June this year. The total of five ships are planned to be built for the oil company, which is the largest in Russia.
Each of the tankers has 20,000 tons of deadweight and is designed for carrying in the arctic and other iced seas up to 60 kinds of various loads including crude oil, petroleum products, gas condensate, vegetable and animal oils. The new ship uses diesel fuel. The cruising range is up to 8,000 miles, endurance - 40 days, clear water speed - 14,2 knots. The Kaliningrad is capable of breaking 1,5 metres thick flat ice at a speed of two knots. The length of the ship is 157 metres, width - 24,5metres, engine capacity is 11,640 horse powers. The crew of the tanker comprises 19 men. The safety of the ship is provided by the reinforced ice-breaking system, double bottom and walls between the cargo tanks, automated navigating systems and other technical means.
The Admiralteiskiye Verfi is planning to hand the tanker to the customer in the end of 2000. The fourth and the fifth tankers will be handed by the end of 2002.
