KIEV, August 21 (AVN) - The KA-226 helicopter will be assembled at the Zaporozhye Motor Sych engine-building enterprise having received a new designation of KA-228, Yuri Basov, Sych's constructor general, told the Military News Agency.
According to him, the Ukrainian variant of the multipurpose helicopter will be fitted with new AI-450 helicopter engines designed and build in Ukraine. The engines are more reliable and economic than the American ones that are mounted on the Russian KA-226 chopper, Basov said.
