MOSCOW, September 1 (AVN) - The Almaz Central design bureau started creation of an integrated system protecting friendly installations from high-precision weapons, Alexander Lemansky, the bureau's constructor general, told the Military News Agency.
The system will be capable of protecting small and medium length installations such as electric stations, dams, airfields, command posts, radar stations, etc.
According to Lemansky, the system will be able to monitor space, detect and track targets and home air defence missiles. It will be able to detect and destroy air offensive means flying in the upper hemisphere from different directions at a distance of up to 15 kilometres.
The system will also allow to lead the enemy's air offensive means away from protected installations. The misleading means of the system will be controlled from the combat control centre equipped with a multifunction radar.
