MOSCOW, September 1 (AVN) - The separate artillery brigade commanded by Colonel Yevgeny Yermolov ended its 6-day tactical training with life fire on the Gorokhovets proving ground of the Moscow military district, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Zaritsky, the district's artillery chief - head of the training, told the Military News Agency.
The brigade is stationed in the Tver region and equipped with 152mm 2S5 Giatsint self-propelled howitzers.
The training appeared to be the final stage of the two-months field march of the brigade's personnel and ordnance. During the march the brigade conducted the artillery division training for the district's artillery divisions commanders.
According to Zaritsky, the training was focused on mastering skills of different level commanders in particular the platoon leaders. Irrespective of the fact that some 70 percent of the brigade's as well as the other district's artillery units' junior officers positions are occupied by reservists, most of them displayed high combat skills and controlled their units properly.
The Tver brigade proved that the personnel has mastered its skills and the units operation in defence and offence was well organised, the general said.
