RUSSIAN PROTON-K BOOSTER TO ORBIT US SIRIUS SPACECRAFT TUESDAY

MOSCOW, September 4 (AVN) - The Baikonur spaceport is completing preparations for the second launch of the Proton-K booster rocket, now carrying the US SD-RADIO (Sirius) spacecraft, a source in the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) Staff told the Military News Agency.

The first launch of the rocket took place on July 1 this year. The second is to occur at 13.44 Moscow time (0944 GMT) on Tuesday. The State Commission will decide upon the booster's filling with components of rocket fuel and final pre-launching operations at its session on Monday.

The pre-launching preparations are being conducted by the SMF space crews and experts of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency (Rosaviakosmos).
