MOSCOW, September 5 (AVN) - The Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) separate brigade commanded by Colonel Vladimir Biryukov is to start a tactical training with combat fires on Tuesday, the Military News Agency learned.
The training will be conducted on the Kapustin Yar proving ground in southern European Russia. The missilemen will practise an offensive operation in the combined army format. The exercise will be controlled by Major-General Sergei Kizyun, commander of the 20th army deployed in Voronezh, Central Russia. The training is to be over on Friday.
According to a source in the SMF and artillery headquarters of the Moscow military district, the missilemen will launch a Tochka 9K79 combat tactical missile. Lieutenant-General Vladimir Zaritsky, chief of the district's SMF and artillery, will especially arrive at the proving ground to witness the event.
