MILITARY TRUCK DETAINED FOR WRONG AMMO TRANSIT IN VLADIVOSTOK

VLADIVOSTOK, September 14 (AVN) - Local law-enforcers have completed investigation of the incident when road policemen detained an Ural truck carrying ammunition overnight to Wednesday, a source in the Pacific Fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency.

According to the investigation, the ammunition was intended for the fleet's marine units to conduct fires on a proving ground. The commander of the marine regiment put Major Alexander Reshetnyak, chief of the regiment air defence, in charge of delivering ammunition.

When 20 boxes with ammunition for the Shilka air defence system were loaded on the truck, Reshetnyak decided to move to the proving ground without waiting for the escort cars of the military traffic Inspection. The lone Ural moving in the city at night attracted attention of the road police.

Having detected the ammunition, the policemen adequately decided to detain the servicemen and deliver the truck to the unit irrespective of the fact that there were appropriate papers for the load. According to the regulations, the ammunition transit in the city without escort of the military traffic Inspection or road police is not allowed.

Reshetnyak will receive a severe administrative rebuke for breaking the rules of ammunition transit, a spokesman for the marine headquarters told the Agency.
