KALININGRAD, September 28 (AVN) - Air defence missile divisions of the Russian Baltic Fleet returned to their permanent stationing areas on Thursday after conducting field firing at a proving range in the Trans-Baikal military district, the fleet's air defence commander, Major-General Fyodor Krisanov, told the Military News Agncy.
As many as 120 missilemen of the Baltic Fleet guard air defence brigade under command of Colonel Yuri Artozei were launching missiles at various types of targets from September 6 to 27, Krisanov said. The brigade's divisions armed with S-300 and S-200 air defence systems, its command post and technical division also teamed up with Syrian air defence squads for joint field firing.
"The firing conditions were unfavourable, there were various jams all the time, but our missilemen hit all 13 targets," Krisanov noted. "The Air Force deputy commander for combat training, Lieutenant-General Arkady Barsukov, praised combat skills of the Syrian squads as well," he said.
