MOSCOW, October 6 (AVN) - The Russian Defence Ministry has postponed the test firing of the T-90S tank which was supposed to involve experts of Malaysia, a competent source in the ministry said on Friday.
The firing, which was to be held on a proving ground of the Chelyabinsk tank institute in the southern Ural mountains this month, was postponed to March - April 2001, the source told the Military News Agency.
According to the source, the postponement is not caused by the loss of interest to the tank in Malaysia. The cannon and missile tank that passed tests in difficult climatic conditions of that Southern Asian state in August this year is still of great interest to the Malasyian experts, but they are now very busy assessing the South Korean K-1 tank, a modification of the US M1A1 Abrams, he said.
Besides, the weather in the Urals is stormy in late October, which can trouble the firing, the source added.
