QUICK-RESPONSE POLICEMEN TO LEAVE CENTRAL RUSSIA FOR CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, October 10 (AVN) - Officers of quick-response police detachments from Moscow, the Moscow region and the cities of Tula, Vladimir and Kaluga in central European Russia will leave for Chechnya on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry told the Military News Agency.

The officers will stay in the North Caucasus for three months, the spokesman said. They will first head for the town of Kizlyar in the Dagestan autonomous republic bordering on Chechnya. There the composite detachment command will be assigned a mission and a place of stationing.

The detachment will replace other police units that arrived in Chechnya earlier under the plan of Interior Ministry forces rotation. Many of its officers have previously served in various trouble spots.
