KHANKALA, October 17 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes have flown 10 combat missions in Chechnya, an AN-30 reconnaissance plane has accomplished two, and MI-24 Hind, MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo helicopters as many as 30 missions for supporting federal columns, strafing rebel installations, ferrying loads and personnel in the pat 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Monday.
Two rebel fortified areas, six strongholds and a base in the mountains were eliminated. MI-24 Hind fire support helicopters have inflicted strikes upon two militant groups exposed by the reconnaissance on the routes of their regrouping and prevented an attempt of an attack at a federal motorcade. The rebel losses made not less than 15 men.
Mi-8 Hip and Mi-26 Halo helicopters have airlifted seven tons of loads on request of the Chechnya administration. An IL-76 Candid transport evacuated some 200 servicemen and over three tons of loads from the combat area.
