LENINGRAD MILITARY DISTRICT CHIEF TO LEAVE FOR FINLAND

ST.PETERSBURG, October 17 (AVN) - A delegation of the Leningrad military district led by district commander Colonel-General Valentin Bobryshev embarked on a visit to the Northern Military Command of the Finnish Armed Forces on Monday, a spokesman for the district headquarters told the Military News Agency.

The trip will start with a visit to Finland's Salaa border guard detachment, the spokesman said. Later in the day, the Russian delegation will visit a yager brigade and attend military training classes.

The Russians will also see the Lappi aviation detachment, Kainu brigade and other units of the Northern Military Command, the spokesman noted. The three-day visit will end in participation in an exercise with field firing that is envisaged by the command's combat training plan.

Bobryshev and his officers will be accompanied on their visit by the head of the command, Lieutenant-General Olavi Yappilla.
