MOSCOW TO HOST SEMINAR ON CHEMICAL WEAPONS IN NOVEMBER

MOSCOW, October 17 (AVN) - The Russian government has accepted the proposal of the Russian Ammunition Agency and agreed to hold the international seminar on provision of help and protection from chemical weapons from November 9 to 12, 2000, Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov confirmed by his order on Tuesday.

The seminar will be held in accordance with Article 10 of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of All Types of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.

According to Kasyanov, preparations for the seminar and its organisation will be gratuitously financed by the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, non-budget resources of the Ammunition Agency and by freewill contributions of Russian and foreign organizations and individuals.

Under Kasyanov's order, the Russian Ammunition Agency is to:

- establish the organisation committee of the seminar together with the interested federal executive bodies and supervise its activities;

- inform the Russian government on results of the seminar.
