KHANKALA, October 18 (AVN) - Train with personnel and ordnance of the Pskov 76th airborne division 234th regiment arrived at a Dagestan railroad station near Chechnya overnight to Wednesday, a source in the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The paratroopers will be deployed in southern Chechnya. The 234th regiment commanded by Colonel Georgy Isakhanyan, Hero of Russia, will replace the 76th division 104th regiment tactical group. The rotation will be completed in two stages, the source said.
The personnel of the regiment was trained for three months in the point of its permanent stationing. It was particularly trained for combat operations in forest and mountainous areas of the North Caucasus. The rotation of the airborne units in the unified federal group will end in late October.
