MOSCOW, October 18 (AVN) - A presidential decree on the adjustment of the servicemen allowances to the salaries of respective categories of state employees can be prepared by November, Andrei Nikolayev, chairman of the State Duma lower house of parliament defence committee told the Military News Agency.
This proposal of the committee was already backed by the Security Council in written from and by the Russian government still in oral form. The respective bill can be adopted by the end of the year, Nikolayav said.
The money allowance of the servicemen will be increased 2.3 times. This will not be a one time increase, it is a three-year indexation programme, he said. The allowance can be increased 20-50 percent in 2001. 10 percent increase demand additional allocations - RUR 4-5bn for servicemen and RUR3-4bn for military pensioners.
Apart from that RUR12.6bn (over USD452m) that is additionally allocated within the national defence article. RUR1.9bn (over USD68m) of them will be directed for uniform, RUR4.6bn (over USD165m) for fuel and lubricants, RUR0.5bn (some USD20m) for medical care, RUR3.6bn (some USD130m) for residential construction, RUR2bn (some USD72m) for armament and materiel purchases.
