GEORGIAN PRESIDENT FLIES TO RUSSIAN PLANE'S WRECK AREA

BATUMI, Georgia, October 26 (AVN) - Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze has headed to the area of the Russian IL-18 Coot plane's accident.

The plane carrying the president is due to land at the Batumi airport at 09.35 Moscow time (0535 GMT).

Currently the list of passengers that were on board the IL-18 is being specified, a source in the Russian Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency. According to some data, over 90 people were listed for the flight. As many as 83 persons were registered by the customs office.

The commission investigating the reasons of the accident considers misdoing of the air traffic control service as one of the possible causes.
