KHANKALA, November 4 (AVN) - Army aviation and Interior Ministry helicopters have accomplished almost 40 missions in the past 24 hours, a source in the North Caucasus unified federal group told the Military News Agency on Saturday.
SU-24 Fencer attack planes made eight combat flights and an AN-30 Clank air scout flew one sortie in Chechnya, the spokesman said. Interior Ministry helicopters accomplished some 30 missions.
As a result of the aviation strikes a rebels base in the Aragun gorge, six strong points, a fuel and oil storage and a diesel engine were destroyed.
MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo transport helicopters airlifted 48 servicemen and seven tons of cargo. An IL-76 Candid military transport also evacuated 219 people and four tons of technical cargo from the area of operation to Central Russia.
