MOSCOW, November 9 (AVN) - The Russian Control Systems Agency and the Russian Conventional Arms Agency have drafted proposals for establishment of a consortium dealing with infra-red imagers, night-vision devices and radars, Director-General of the Conventional Arms Agency Alexander Nozdrachev said on Thursday.
The consortium will concentrate on development and serial production of integrated optical and electronic systems, infra-red modules and new-generation devices for high-precision 24-hour observation, sighting systems and other equipment on orders of law-enforcement agencies, as well as devices for various spheres of economy, Nozdrachev said.
The Russian army badly needs infra-red imagers, nigh-vision devices, low-level television systems, integrated radio, optic, electronic and other systems for small arms, tanks, planes and helicopters, the director-general stressed.
The consortium is likely to comprise 14 enterprises subordinate to the two agencies. The proposals on its establishment will be submitted for consideration of the Russian government.
