LAW-ENFORCERS CONFISCATE 10 KG OF OPIUM IN RUSSIA'S FAR EAST

VLADIVOSTOK, November 10 (AVN) - A contraband channel of drugtrafficking from Trans Caucasus to Japan has been liquidated as a result of the operational-and-search missions conducted by the Maritime territory Federal Security Service department, a source in the department told the Military News Agency.

The channel was established by the international criminal group, which consists of Russians and foreigners. The drug-dealer was caught in the act while transporting 10 kg of raw opium to Vladivostok. As many as two Azerbaijani people were arrested for the illegal drugtrafficking abroad from the Maritime ports. The criminal information on the case has been laid due to the constituent elements of offence according to the RF Criminal Code articles 188 and 288.

According to the law-enforcement bodies the Maritime drugtrafficing is the unusual case. Even 10kg 168g of various drugs were confiscated by the check point borderguards of the Pacific ocean regional department of the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) for the last nine months of 2000. On the opposite, kilograms and tons of drugs are being confiscated on other border strong points especially on the Southern and Central Asian ones. Judging by the specialists, the Russian large criminal communities which control drugtrafficking try to establish fixed channels for drugtrasportation in the Maritime ports together with international drugsyndicates.
