FEDERAL PLANES DESTROY THREE REBEL STRONG POINTS IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, November 13 (AVN) - Federal planes have eliminated three guerrilla strong points in Chechnya since Sunday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes have flown six missions, an AN-30 Mainstay air scout two missions and MI-24 Hind, MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo helicopters over 30 missions in the past 24 hours, the spokesman said. The helicopters convoyed military motorcades, attacked guerrilla installations, airlifted cargoes and personnel.

According to preliminary data, the air strikes also destroyed two rebel blindages, an ammo cache, and two vehicles transformed into mobile artillery units. Some 20 rebels were killed, the spokesman claimed.

MI-8 and MI-26 helicopters transported over 100 people and 10t of cargo in the interests of the federal troops and at the request of the Chechnya administration. An IL-76 Candid transport airlifted 209 servicemen and 3t of technical loads from the area of operation to central Russia.
