KHANKALA, November 13 (AVN) - The federal artillery in Chechnya has inflicted strikes on four rebel groups detected by intelligence near Dzhugurda and other boroughs of the Vedeno district, a source in the unified feral headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The rebels are reported to have serious casualties, the spokesman said. Still the rebel groups try to start combat actions in piedmount areas. Federal units fight Khattab and Basayev groups almost every day in eastern Chechnya.
Rebel intelligence groups accomplish combat missions near the villages of Grushevoye, Tanga, Ulus-Kert and Bamut in the west of the war-torn republic. In the vicinity of Bamut, Federal artillery positions were attacked by rebels. The attack was rebuffed with two rebels killed and no casualties in the artillery unit.
On the whole federal units, checkpoints and pickets have been shelled 16 times in the past 24 hours. A landmine destroyed the Sharoi-Achhoi-Martan gas pipeline, cutting gas supplies to some 20,000 residents of the city and nearby boroughs. Besides, 12 powerful explosive devices were exposed and defused by federal sappers.
