KHANKALA, November 15 (AVN) - Despite complicated weather conditions, federal SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes have flown four sorties in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus said on Wednesday.
Besides, an AN-30 Mainstay air scout accomplished one mission and MI-24 Hind, MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo helicopters flew over 30 combat and transport sorties, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
The air strikes eliminated three rebel bases in the south-eastern Chechen Vedeno district, as well as five strong points in other areas of the republic, the spokesman went on. Federal planes also set up two abatis on the possible movement routes of rebel gangs led by Shamil Basayev and Khattab.
MI-8 Hip and MI-26 Halo helicopters transported 49 people and 6.5t of cargo in the interests of the federal troops and at the request of the Chechnya administration. An IL-76 Candid transport airlifted 56 servicemen and a combat vehicle from the area of operation to central Russia.
