MOSCOW, November 16 (AVN) - Russian and Georgian experts met in Moscow for two days to prepare documentation for the fifth leg of the bilateral military talks, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry said on Thursday.
The experts considered the entire spectrum of problems pertaining to reduction of Russian troops and armament in Georgia, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. The main stress was laid on hammering out the withdrawal and disbandment schedule for Russian bases in the Tbilisi suburb Vaziani and the town of Gudauta in the breakaway Abkhazian region. The experts considered the approximate cost of the relocation, taking into account expenses on all related operations.
Despite considerable disagreements, the parties came to terms on the documents, the spokesman said. At the same time, the Russian experts handed over to Georgia a draft treaty on the Vaziani airfield, which Moscow is planning to use even after the bases withdrawal.
The parties also completed drafting an agreement on bilateral military and technical co-operation which will be put up for the discussion at the fifth leg of the talks. It will take place next week at the request of the Georgian party. The exact date will be specified through diplomatic channels.
