MOSCOW, November 23 (AVN) - The Project 1332.2 Zubr air cushion landing craft produced by the Almaz shipbuilding JS following the request of the Hellenic Navy is to be delivered to Greece November 30, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry said on Thursday.
Currently the Zubr is undergoing the final stage of sea trials in the Gulf of Finland, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
Under the USD101m contract signed by the now-disbanded Rosvoorouzhenie arms exporting company earlier this year, two Zubr-type crafts are to be supplied to Greece. The second craft is to be handed over to the customer in the summer of 2001.
The Zubr (NATO codename Pomornik) is powered by three turbo-prop engines. It can move over water, swamp, and barrier beach, and can negotiate obstacles 2 m high. The craft's displacement is 535 tons, length 57m, width 22.3m, speed up to 60 knots. The Zubr can carry three tanks and up to 100 men.
