MOSCOW, November 24 (AVN) - The Council of Federtion upper house of the Russian parliament is to discuss main principles of country's military organisation and particularly the Armed Forces reform during the governmental hour at 12.30 Moscow time (0930 GMT) on Friday, a source in the council's security and defence committee told the Military News Agency.
Colonel-General Vladislav Sherstyuk, Security Council deputy secretary, will introduce his report to the session participants. Defence Minister, General Staff chief and chiefs of other law-enforcement agencies are also invited to take part in the session.
Prime-Minister Mikhail Kasyanov was also asked to participate and report on the topic but he would not be able to attend the session because of his working visit to the Arkhangelsk region. But regardless of Kasyanov absence the Council will discuss serious problems of forthcoming military reform. One of the most important is the social security for 600,000 servicemen which are planned to be dismissed during the reform of the Armed Forces and other law-enforcement agencies.
