SLATINA, Kosovo, November 29 (AVN) - The commander of the Russian Military Contingent within KFOR, Major-General Vladimir Kazantsev, will visit the base area of the 13th tactical group on Thursday, a spokesman for the contingent headquarters told the Military News Agency.
The base area is located in the town of Kosovska Kamenica in US Sector East, where separatists of the so-called Preshevo Liberation Army entered the 5km security zone and captured Serb territories adjacent to the border several days ago.
Kazantsev will hear the report of the group commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Oleg Rykin, on the situation in the responsibility zone and measures taken to reinforce control posts. The 13th tactical group, which numbers some 900 servicemen, has increased the number of mobile patrols on the administrative border with Serbia and placed 24-hour control posts near the villages of Chari and Muhovac just outside the security zone.
A US motorised infantry brigade, two Greek infantry battalions, the 13th tactical group of the Russian Military Contingent, a mixed Polish-Ukrainian battalion and two companies of the UAE are stationed in US Sector East. The forces numbering a total of 10,000 servicemen are placed under the command of Brigadier General Dennis Hardy, US Army.
