CASPIAN BORDER GUARDS USE HELIS TO CATCH POACHERS

MOSCOW, November 30 (AVN) - The North Caucasus department of the Russian Federal Border Guard Service reports no incidents in its sector of the state border in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the service told the Military News Agency Thursday.

One of the combat scout teams found a ready-to-fire RPO-26 Shmel flame thrower in the sector of the Kharachoi outpost of the Itum-Kale border guard company. Another team detected a well-camouflaged dug-out used by small rebel groups for respite and roost in the sector of the Tongakhoi outpost.

Border guard aircraft have been widely used since Wednesday for the Caspian Sea resources protection. Patrols of the Caspian border guard detachment, securing shores of the Kalmykian autonomous republic, north of Dagestan, seized four boat motors, 400 m of poacher net and a shotgun.

Poachers left a motor boat, three boat motors, 900 m of net, and 50 kg of sturgeon when confronted by the border guards near the Suyutkina sand bar. Three residents of the Kalmykian settlement of Artezian were detained for border violation.
