RF GOVT SETS CRIMINAL POLICE STRUCTURE

MOSCOW, December 8 (AVN) - Prime-Minister Mikhail Kasyanov signed a resolution 'On Criminal Police Units', a spokesman for the government information department told the Military News Agency on Friday.

The resolution sets the structure of the criminal police and provision on creation, reorganisation and disbandment of criminal police units.

The criminal police in Russia consists of federal, RF component parts, transportation, closed area and secret installations departments.

The criminal police includes the following units:

- criminal investigation;

- on combating economic crimes;

- on combating drugs trafficking;

- on combating organised crime (including SWAT detachments);

- on combating crimes in the sphere of high technologies;

- operational and search;

- operational and technical purpose;

- self security;

- special forces.

The criminal police also comprises national central bureau of Interpol and its territorial units.

The federal criminal police includes units of the Interior Ministry central administration, anti-mafia police units, department on combating crimes in high technologies, operational and search units, operational and technical purpose units and units of self-security.

Control bodies of the federal criminal police are the Interior Ministry federal criminal police committee, committees in federal districts, RF component parts.

In Russian component parts the criminal police is formed by criminal investigation units, units on combating economic crimes, units on countering illegal drugs trafficking of interior ministries, interior departments, main interior departments of parts, districts, towns and other boroughs.

Under the provision on creation, reorganisation and disbandment of criminal police units, RF interior minister is the person to do that in accordance with the criminal police structure set by the Russian government.

Criminal police units in RF component parts can be created, reorganised and disbanded by republics' interior ministers, chiefs of territorial interior departments, main interior departments under the limits set by the RF Interior Ministry.
