KAZAN, Volga Region, December 13 (AVN) - The local Gorbunov aviation plant is completing assembly of five TU-214 medium-range passenger planes, a spokesman for the enterprise directorate told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The first certified plane of this type has already been assembled and is on the plant's airfield, said Director General Nail Khairullin.
According to the approved production schedule, the second plane will have been produced by March 15, 2001, and the third by April 30. The assembly schedule for other planes is being co-ordinated.
As for production of the TU-324 plane at the plant, Khairullin failed to determine the term of this programme's realisation. As much as USD73m has been invested into TU-324, which is to be produced in the regional variant for 50 passengers and administrative variant for 10 passengers, Khairullin said. However this money is not enough to start mass production of the new plane, as its development programme costs about USD330m.
