RF NAVY REVIVES ANNUAL COMMAND TRAINING SESSIONS

ST.PETERSBURG ,December 14 (AVN) - Russian Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov held a meeting with the fleet and task force commanders at the Navy Academy Thursday, a high-ranking officer in the Navy Staff told the Military News Agency.

The meeting was devoted to the results of combat training in 2000 and plans for 2001. This is the main event in the training session of the navy command that will last till December 24.

Apart from the fleet commanders and chiefs-of-staff, the session is attended by heads of scientific, research and educational establishments of the Russian Navy. Besides summing up of the results of the combat training, prospects for such training, issues of planning, military discipline, research studies, and steps of the reform of the Navy structures will be discussed.

According to the source, Admiral Kuroyedov decided to revive the practice of annual sessions of the Navy command established by Admiral Gorshkov back in Soviet times. Such sessions used to be held at the Navy Academy in St. Petersburg.
