MILITARY TOP BRASS GATHER AT MOBILISATION TRAINING SESSION IN CHITA

CHITA, Souhern Siberia, December 19 (AVN) - A mobilisation training session of the Siberian military district's command personnel started in the city of Chita on Tuesday, a spokesman for the district headquarters told the Military News Agency.

The session supervised by the district commander, Colonel-General Nikolai Kormiltsev, will last for two days, the spokesman said. It involves officials of the Russian presidential envoy's administration in the Siberian federal district, heads of the 16 regions within the Siberian military district, military commissioners of the republics, territories and regions of Siberia and Trans-Baikal.

The session participants will discuss problems of manning and application of the district troops in the framework of the Armed Forces optimisation from 2001 to 2003. They will study and practise operations connected with mobilisation readiness of the troops and regions, get to know new military equipment and armament.

Reservists residing in the military district will be recruited for the first time in the past few years to take part in the training session. They will be involved in the combat adjustment to take place in a unit of the district. The participants will also visit the local ordnance repair plant headed by Colonel Igor Smirnov to see the enterprise adopt war-time working standards as part of the training.
