CIS DM COUNCIL TO DISCUSS MILITARY CO-OPERATION PLAN FOR 2005 THURSDAY

MOSCOW, December 19 (AVN) - The CIS Defence Ministers Council's session slated for Thursday will sum up the results of activities of the CIS Defence Ministries in 2000 and discuss military co-operation plan for the period 2005, a spokesman for the council's secretariat told the Military News Agency.

The ministers are to sign two agreements on information exchange as regards weather conditions at airfields and at sea, which will help prevent accidents in the CIS air forces and navies.

According to the agenda, they will discuss the plan of the Southern Shield 2001 military exercise, issues of computerisation of the everyday activities of the military, as well as the composition of the military-scientific council that will operate at the CIS military co-operation co-ordination headquarters. The session is to establish the "Voin Sodruzhestva" (Commonwealth Warrior) magazine editorial board and adopt the plan of the CIS military sports competition dedicated to the Commonwealth's 10th anniversary.

The session will be chaired by Russian Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev. After the session, the scientific and practical conference on anti-terrorist warfare will take place.
