FOUR VIOLATORS DETAINED ON RUSSIA-AZERBIAJAN BORDER

STAVROPOL, December 27 (AVN) - The situation on the Russia-Azerbaijan border section controlled by the Makhachkala department has been tense during the past 24 hours, a Russian border guard spokesman in the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Border guards at the Tagirkent-Kazmalyar outpost detained a citizen of Azerbaijan trying to violate the border early in the morning, the spokesman said. A little bit later border guards of the neighboring Derbent border detachment detained a Russian citizen trying to leave the country.

Two hours later this detachment arrested two more foreigners who broke into Russia on a DT-75 tractor, the spokesman said. One of the violators turned out to be an Azerbaijani border guard. Both "tractor drivers" were handed over to the adjacent country through the Tagirkent-Kazmalyar outpost.
