MOSCOW, December 27 (AVN) - The Russian Armed Forces armament department has prepared proposals concerning on modernisation of SU-24 Fencer, SU-24K, SU-24P, SU-24PK, SU-24M, SU-24MP, SU-24MK and SU-24MPKP planes, which are used in the Air Force and naval aviation units, a spokesman for the Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The combat potential of SU-24 family aircraft is to be increased by means of boosting its capacities to effect missile and bomb strikes in more complicated weather conditions, by enhancing navigation accuracy and application of more diverse offensive means. Their equipment is to include a compact satellite navigation station. Radar information will be displayed on an on-board TV screen.
The modernisation programme envisages extension of SU-24 service life to 2,400 flight hours, which makes about 30 years of exploitation.
