ULYANOVSK CAR PLANT DELIVERS FIRST BATCH OF OFF-ROADERS TO BELARUS

MINSK, December 28 (AVN) - The Ulyanovsk automobile plant supplied the first batch of the Fermer general-purpose cross-country vehicles and UAZ advanced jeeps to Belarussian border guards, Colonel Vladimir Kapriyenko, chief of armament of the Belarussian state border guard committee, told the Military News Agency on Thursday.

Kapriyenko did not elaborate on the standard schedule of supplies but noted that prior to the introduction of the vehicles into the inventory, they underwent field testing. The Russian-made vehicles performed excellent. They boast high cross-country mobility, reliability, efficiency and maintainability.

A relatively low cost of the Ulyanovsk-produced vehicles was one of the factors that influenced the choice of the Belarussian border guards, said Kapriyenko, adding that his service would continue buying vehicles from the Ulyanovsk plant next year.
