MOSCOW, December 28 (AVN) - Russia's KA-52 helicopter will take part in South Korea's tender for purchase of 36 to 40 combat helicopters, a competent source in the Russian Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency on Thursday.
The MI-28NE Havoc helicopter, earlier planned as the second Russian participant, has been withdrawn from the tender, the source said.
MI-28NE was put up by the Promexport company, while KA-52 was suggested by its main competitor Rosvoorouzhenie. After the two arms exporters were disbanded and the new Rosoboronexport company was established, it was to have two competing helicopters at the tender. To avoid such a situation, a decision was made to withdraw MI-28NE.
