KALININRAD REGION LEGISLATURE APPROVES NEW POLICE CHIEF

KALININGRAD, December 28 (AVN) - The legislature of Russia's westernmost Kaliningrad region approved Colonel Sergey Kirichenko as head of the regional Interior department on Thursday, a department spokesman told the Military News Agency.

Kirichenko, 46, is married and has two children. Prior to his current appointment, he served as first deputy police chief and head of the criminal police in the Volgograd region. He started his service as a policeman in a village police department.
