NALCHIK, North Caucasus, January 18 (AVN) - The Supreme Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian autonomous republic has resumed the trial of Chechen warlord Salautdin Temirbulatov on Thursday after a two-day break.
The warlord was detained by officers of the North Caucasus regional anti-mafia police department in March last year. His trial began on January 11. In the following three days, the prosecution read the bill of indictment and the court heard testimonies of several witnesses and victims.
The court has obtained proof of the following: Temirbulatov was born in the village of Borzoi in the southern Chechen Shatoi district in 1964. He is married and has six children. He worked as a tractor driver, but when guerrilla gangs emerged in Chechnya, he joined the so-called Shatoi regiment commanded by Ruslan Gelayev.
The regiment captured four Russian professional servicemen - Sharonov, Metyayev, Shcherbatykh and Fedorkov - and executed them. The execution was filmed and a videotape was exposed to the servicemen's unit to frighten the federals. The tape shows Temirbulatov personally shooting up a soldier.
Temirbulatov is charged with 24 crimes, including mass murders and hostage-taking. According to witnesses, he headed the so-called "Sheriat security service" of the Shatoi district for some time.
