MOSCOW, January 18 (AVN) - The Russian government has set up an interdepartmental working group to prepare materials for the Russian Security Council session slated for February, the Military News Agency learned.
The session is devoted to the state and prospects of solving social problems of servicemen, retired personnel, and their family members.
The group headed by Colonel-General Vitaly Azarov, chief of the main department for educational work, consists of deputy ministers of interior, labour and social development, finance, economic development and trade, and justice, as well as a deputy chairman of the Russian State Committee on Construction and Housing.
The working group is to work out proposals for the solution of social problems of servicemen, retired personnel, and their family members considering the macroeconomic figures and budget expenses for defence, law enforcement and state maintenance for the period between 2001 and 2010.
The Ministry of Finance is tasked to work out proposals to enhance the system of allowances of the military and equated categories and conversion of natural benefits into monetary compensations.
The Ministry of Labour is to work out proposals to realise state guarantees for the people taking part in the anti-guerrilla operation in the North Caucasus and family members of dead servicemen, and enhance social support to the military taking part in combat activities in trouble spots.
The Defence Ministry is to come up with suggestions to solve housing problems of the servicemen, retired personnel, and their family members, to improve their medical and health resort support and to solve other social problems.
