KIEV, January 19 (AVN) - Russia and Ukraine have come to terms in all disputable matters concerning early warning radars of the unified air defence system of the two nations, Russian Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev said here on Friday.
Sergeyev discussed the two radars, located in the Ukrainian cities of Sevastopol and Mukachevo, at a meeting with chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Ivan Plyushch. According to him, the radars should be preserved, as they are the joint property of Russia and Ukraine and their work is of high quality.
Sergeyev was supported by chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security and defence Boris Andresyuk. Technical maintenance for the radars is still provided by Russia, he told the Military News Agency.
"Debts in this sector of military and technical co-operation between the two nations make USD6.2m," the lawmaker said. The Russian government has decided to repay the debts, he added.
