KHANKALA, January 19 (AVN) - Federal forces have eliminated 23 rebels and destroyed seven blindages, 24 caches with ammunition, an IFV and 59 landmines in Chechnya since Monday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters in the North Caucasus told the Military News Agency.
Federals confiscated two Igla portable air defence systems, 219 pieces of small arms, 590 grenades, 63,000 cartridges for small arms, 159kg of explosives and 20 radio sets. They also detained 210 suspected rebels and confiscated 150 hijacked vehicles, the spokesman said.
Rebels attempt to freight helicopters in Georgia to airlift arms to the Itum-Kale village located in the south of Chechnya, the unified federal troops command said.
