STAVROPOL, January 24 (AVN) - Border guards of the Dagestan unified checkpoint on the Russia-Azerbaijan frontier detained a Grozny resident with a splinter injury on the right hand overnight to Wednesday, a spokesman for the North Caucasus regional border guard department told the Military News Agency.
Law-enforcers are checking whether the detainee is a member of rebel gangs, the spokesman said.
As many as 41 people have crossed the Azerbaijan-Russia border during the past 24 hours.
On a whole the situation in the area controlled by the the North Caucasus department remains stable. No attacks on border checkpoints and control posts have been registered on the Chechen and adjacent straps of the border during the past 24 hours.
