POLICE DETAIN LOCAL ASSEMBLING BOMB IN CHECHNYA'S SHELKOVSKY DISTRICT

KHANKALA, February 13 (AVN) - Officers of temporary Interior departments in Chechnya have carried out 26 search and preventive operations since Monday, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry's department for Chechnya told the Military News Agency.

As many as 33,559 people and 16,918 vehicles were checked. A total of 317 administrative offences were registered including 47 violations of passport rules. The police seized a flame thrower, 16 rounds for a grenade launcher, 12 hand grenades, three mortar shells, an anti-tank mine, three home-made explosive devices, 1,236 cartridges, 0.6kg of TNT and 0.45kg of drugs.

Policemen detained a local civilian in the Grebenskaya locality of the northern Chechen Shelkovsky district who was assembling an explosive device in an abandoned house. A cache with three hand grenades and a MON-100 personnel mine was found in the house of a resident of Avtury, Shali district. The owner was detained.
