KHANKALA, February 15 (AVN) - Federal sappers disarmed two landmines on Chechen motorways, lifted mines from four ruined houses in Grozny and cleared two mined abatis in Chechnya's Nozhai-Yurt district on Wednesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
Federals detained five suspected rebels, including one with gunshot injuries, during checks and mop-up operations. A guerrilla surrendered to law-enforcers in the Vedeno district.
Federal scouts exposed movement of a 10-strong guerrilla group near the Russia-Georgia border. The group went to the mountains without returning fire. During the chase the scouts found and eliminated a blindage where guerrillas stored cartridges and hand grenades.
